Doe Deere is a real success story. The Russian born CEO of Lime Crime cosmetics company started out in another venture. She opened an eBay store back in 2004, using the name Lime Crime. Later on, Deere’s interest turned to designing a makeup line with her unique and trail blazing ideas to produce makeup that inspired the individual’s creativity. What Inspired Doe Deere

Doe Deere started a clothing line business on eBay back in 2004 after attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she majored in fashion design and illustration. She named her clothing line Lime Crime. At that time, she also modeled her clothing line. Of course, it’s important to wear makeup that matched the clothing lines bold colors. However, Doe relates that it was difficult finding makeup to match the clothing line. Necessity led to Doe Deere creating a makeup line that matched her clothing line. Certainly, necessity inspired her makeup line.


Early Beginnings

The early beginnings were not exactly by the text book. Deere let her passion, drive her ambition to success. This passion led to developing a makeup line to fit her clothing line and personality. Later on, she abandoned the clothing line idea, even though it was making steady profits. Deere threw all her energies into creating a unique makeup line that would inspire people to use their creativity. Lime Crime was launched in 2008. Success came rather swiftly to Doe Deere. By 2009, Lime Crime was gaining success and making steady profits too.


Her First Customers

Certainly, gaining attention was a problem that Doe Deere easily overcame. She relates that the decision to start a blog that included makeup tutorials was the key to her early success and attracting her first customers. Doe Deere relates that it is important to make the presentation fun and entertaining for people to encourage them to use her beauty products. Deere also held contests and free giveaways to drive up the interest in her beauty products. The exposure on the blog, the tutorials, and the contest created a lot of interest in the makeup brand. Today, Lime Crime is a social media hit and has 3 million followers on Instagram.

There are makeup lines, beauty products, that simply do not stand the test of time. They fade away after a year or so. However, Lime Crime has been around for a decade.
